Polymer Group Inc. has opened a Asian region head office in Suzhou, China, bringing a newly constructed manufacturing plant together with administrative functions under one roof. The new site in the Suzhou Industrial Park houses spunmelt manufacturing and finishing lines that will begin operations mid- year, serving the medical and hygiene markets with quality, high-performance engineered materials. According to executives, the new headquarters will facilitate greater collaboration and cooperation among PGI’s teams. The Suzhou manufacturing operations make PGI the largest spunmelt supplier in China and the country’s only vertically integrated producer of finished medical fabrics. The new, multi-beam Reifenhauser line will manufacture ultra- high-performance medical barrier fabrics, including PGI’s MediSoft products. The finishing line installed at the new location will provide customers with treated medical fabrics produced in a pristine environment to meet the highest quality standards.   

Meanwhile, at PGI’s Nanhai location, a recently installed advanced chemical bonding line is ramping up and will also serve the hygiene and medical markets.
